The origins of Casas do Calhau Miúdo date back to 1935, when the property served as a family home for several generations. The estate included a traditional Madeiran house, an outdoor kitchen with a fireplace, and a small storage building with a wine press used to produce wine from locally grown grapes. In 2023, a careful restoration project was completed, preserving the property's historic character and Madeiran identity while providing modern comfort.
Located in Seixal, the property enjoys a privileged seafront setting, offering breathtaking views of the Porto Moniz islets, the surrounding mountains, and Porto da Laje, where you can take a refreshing swim in the Atlantic just a few steps away.
Today, Casas do Calhau Miúdo consists of two independent houses and several shared outdoor areas designed for comfort, relaxation, and connection with nature. Guests can enjoy a swimming pool with a sun deck, an outdoor dining area with a barbecue, and a viewpoint offering panoramic views of both the ocean and the mountains.
Breakfast is provided on a self-service basis, with all the essentials supplied so that guests can start the day at their own pace.
